According to Diario AS journalist Eduardo Burgos, Bayer Leverkusen has established a firm stance regarding the future of star left-back Alex Grimaldo. While several top European clubs have shown interest in the Spanish international, the German champions are reportedly not looking to sell during the January window. The club would only consider a departure if they receive a "irrefutable offer" exceeding €25 million.
Grimaldo remains a cornerstone of Xabi Alonso's tactical setup, providing essential creativity and goal-scoring threat from the flank. Currently under contract until 2027, the 30-year-old is viewed as vital for Leverkusen’s ambitions in both the Bundesliga and European competitions. The club's management appears more focused on retaining their key assets for the remainder of the season rather than cashing in mid-campaign, despite rumored interest from clubs like Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
However, the financial landscape is expected to shift significantly by the summer of 2026. Reports suggest that a transfer will become much more feasible after the season ends, with his valuation likely dropping to between €15 million and €20 million. As Grimaldo has previously hinted at a desire to return to Spain, a summer move might offer a more balanced solution for both the player and the club, allowing Leverkusen time to secure a proper replacement.
